Gene Aldrin's Personal Copy of Secret Report
Edwin E. "Gene" Aldrin's Personal Copy of the August 11, 1943 Secret Report of the Army Air Forces Board. (Orlando, Florida: The Army Air Forces Board, 1943), 73 pages, staple bound in yellow paper covers, 8" x 10.5". The subject of this report is stated on the cover as "TACTICAL EMPLOYMENT OF SEA SEARCH RADAR." Buzz Aldrin's father had a keen interest in submarine issues in his later life, even years after he retired from the army air corps in 1928. The purpose of this manual was to discuss the uses of sea search radar, especially as "a very important weapon for night bombardment of surface vessels and shore installations. It has already been used extensively for submarine search and as an aid to navigation." Chapter V is titled "Anti-Submarine Warfare", a section of this report that surely appealed to Colonel Aldrin, as he was responsible for researching antisubmarine warfare in Europe during World War II. An important and early examination of radar uses in the army's air forces owned by Gene Aldrin and his son, Buzz. Fine condition. From the personal collection of Dr. Buzz Aldrin and accompanied by a signed Letter of Authenticity from him.

Shipping: Flat Material, Small (view shipping information)
