<B>General William Tecumseh Sherman Autograph Letter Signed to Mary Audenreid.</B></I> The letter is matted, with the visible portion measuring 4.75 x 7.5, n.d., the only address is <I>817 15th Street</B></I>. The entire piece is framed to an overall size of 12" X 17". A brass nameplate underneath the image reads GENERAL W. T. SHERMAN AUTOGRAPHED LETTER TO MISTRESS MARY AUDENREID. The letter was written to the widow of an aide to Sherman, Mary Audenreid. She has been linked romantically with the general and it is suspected that she was his mistress. The letter is written in pencil and signed twice, once as <I>W. T. Sherman</B></I> and as <I>W.T.S.</B></I>.
