Gen. Daniel Tyler. Group of four A.Ls.S
Gen. Daniel Tyler. Group of four A.Ls.S. from the pre-Civil War period of his business career. An authority on artillery. Letters date from 1851 (one) to 1857 (two), and another undated. From the years when he was engaged in manufacture of pig iron, and with railroad and canal companies; Pres. of Macon & Western Railroad. These letters, 7 1/2pp. in all, from N.Y. and Norwalk, discuss business plans, travel to Virginia and North Carolina, organization of work crews, etc. In the war, he fought at Manassas, Corinth, and Harper's Ferry. One letter signed "Daniel Tyler," the others "D. Tyler." Very good.
