Gemini IV Flown Mustard Seed. The highlight of the Gemini IV mission was the first spacewalk by an American. Ed White II floated outside the capsule for approximately 20 minutes while tethered to it. During the spacewalk White carried Mustard Seeds in his spacesuit pocket as a sign of faith. The seed is accompanied by a photocopy of a letter sent to Ed White by Norman Vincent Peale. The seeds originally came from Israel and after the spacewalk were stored in Fliteline cases for distribution to family and friends. The COA states "the accompanying Mustard Seed was carried by Ed White during his Gemini 4 spacewalk on June 3, 1965. It has been held by his family since his death in 1967." The COA is signed by Michael Orenstein. Ex. the Michael Orenstein Estate Collection.
Estimated Value $250 - 300.
