<B></B></I> <B>Gemini 5 Space-Flown Patch,</B></I> 3.75"-diameter, affixed to a 6" diamond-shaped wooden mount, covered in clear plastic. Accompanied by a signed statement by Garino: "<I>The beginning of the flight patch's./ Cooper & Conrad were the first/ to come up with a flight patch/ which continues through the/ shuttle program."</B></I> NASA approved Cooper's design of a Conestoga wagon, but removed its "8 DAYS/ OR BUST" motto because it was felt that if the flight ended before the scheduled 8 days, the press might consider the mission a "bust." Cooper and Conrad's uniforms bore patches without the motto. Cooper has said that he carried some of the patches with the motto, such as the one offered here, on Gemini 5. <I>From the collection of renowned former physical trainer of the astronauts Joe Garino.
