Gemini 4 - Recovery Ship Cover Signed by Command Pilot "James A. McDivitt" and Pilot "Edward H White II". Postmarked on June 7, 1965 aboard the U.S.S. Wasp CVS-18, the ship that recovered Gemini 4 and its astronauts. The cover features the official ship cachet with the facsimile signature of Commanding Officer J. W. Longer, the exact location, date, time, a capsule graphic, and the ship's insignia. The cover is hand-addressed to "Dr. Owen Coons/ NASA/ Houston, Tex" in what might be the handwriting of Ed White. This was the flight in which White became the first American to "walk in space" in a 20 minute EVA on June 3. He was tragically killed in the January 1967 Apollo 1 training accident. McDivitt also was commander on the Apollo 9 mission. About fine condition with some light crinkling. From the estate of Dr. D.
