Gemini 4- Group of 27 NASA Photographs
Gemini 4, America's First "Space Walk" - Group of 27 Original NASA Photographs. James McDivitt and Edward White blasted off June 3, 1965 on the first U.S. multi-day space mission designed to rendezvous and fly in formation with the spent second stage of their Titan II booster rocket and to show that humans could remain in space long enough to get to the moon. Although not originally planned for this flight, Apollo 4 would see our first astronaut "spacewalk," a 20-minute Ed White EVA with McDivitt shooting breathtaking photos of the event from inside the capsule. Some of these very photos are included in this fabulous vintage collection of official NASA 8" x 10" glossy color and B&W photos. Others show the Gemini 4 astronauts pre-flight in their space suits and during launch, splashdown, and recovery. A few also show the backup crew, Jim Lovell and Frank Borman, who would be launched in Gemini 7. McDivitt later flew on Apollo 9. White was tragically killed during an Apollo 1 training mission. An excellent group of space photos for display. Generally very fine to excellent condition. From the collection of renowned former physical trainer of the astronauts Joe Garino. This lot is accompanied by a signed certificate of authentication from Garino verifying its provenance.

Shipping: Flat Material, Small (view shipping information)
