Flown embroidered Gemini 5 mission patch, 4? in diameter, picturing a Conestoga wagon with the motto “8 Days or Bust,” on the wagon. Signed on the reverse, “Flown on Gemini V, Gordon Cooper.” Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Cooper stating “This patch flew in space from August 21-29, 1965. I was spacecraft commander.” In fine condition. Gemini 5 was the first mission to have an embroidered patch. However, the design was deemed unacceptable by NASA and had to be covered over on the crew's patches with plain cloth.
