This is an original bronze sculpture by Montana artist Gary Schildt. Schildt is a member of the Blackfeet Tribe and has participated in the C.M. Russell Auction In Great Falls, Montana numerous years. In addition, he is a founding member of the Northwest Rendezvous of Art group. Schildt is an accomplished artist with notable works in oil, watercolor and bronze. This piece is titled "Last of the 5000" and shows the longhorn steer in fantastic detail. The sculpture was created the year after the 100th anniversary of Montana becoming a territory in 1864. The bronze is dated "1965". It has been signed by the artist and is numbered 1/30. The Gary Schildt bronze is in good condition. It measures 5.75" x 12" and is 8.5" tall.
