Gary Cooper Pants from Springfield Rifle
This pair of U.S. Cavalry pants was worn by the character "Maj. Alex Kearney," portrayed by legendary actor Gary Cooper, in the 1952 motion picture, "Springfield Rifle." The blue pants with riding stirrups have the original Warner Brothers production label sewn inside with the name "Gary Cooper" and production date "3/15/52" clearly written. Mr. Cooper wore the pants in several scenes during the first half of the film before his character is discharged from the cavalry under a charge of cowardice. Major Kearney (Cooper) purposely gets himself kicked out of the U.S. Cavalry in order to infiltrate a group that is stealing horses to deliver to the Confederate forces during the Civil War, effectively making him the Union's first counter espionage agent. The pants are in vintage screen worn condition with some evidence of wear in the knees and some minor distress. Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from the costume house.
