Very rare signed memoir by Giuseppe Garibaldi, Italy's national hero whose military conquests removed despotic power and unified various provinces to form modern day Italy. French language text entitled ''Les Mille'' is signed by Garibaldi on the half-title page, ''A mon cher ami / G. Garibaldi''. Volume published by Charles Silvain: Paris: 1875. Red quarter-leather boards with marbled endpapers. Volume is worn, with the front board detached and rear hinge starting to split. Interior is clean with some foxing. Rarely found signed.
