Galveston, TX- Labadie & Barstow 75¢ Jan. 1, 1863 Medlar 17
Galveston was one of the most populous cities and counties in the state by the early 1860's, and had more numerous scrip issuers than most Texas locales. Interestingly, neither Galveston City nor the County saw the need for municipal or county scrip issues during this period. This is a nice example of a very rare private scrip issue. Fine-Very Fine, with traces of old mounting on the back.
From The William A.
