Oil on Board. Measures 18 1/2" by 14 1/2". Gale Running Wolf, Sr. (Born 1950) is active/lives in Montana. Gale Wolf Sr is known for Landscape, Native American, non-object.. Gale Running Wolf, Sr. is a nationally known Blackfeet artist. He was born and raised on the Blackfeet reservation. He makes his home in billings, Montana. Although gale has no formal art training, he masterfully portrays his Blackfeet heritage with vivid realism and developed a unique "winter blue" style that is easily recognized. His mediums consist of pencil, oils, gouache, and acrylic. A full time professional artist for 14 years, Gale exhibits as many prestigious shows and auctions throughout the United States. He is represented by various galleries museums, National Parks and art distributors in the country. His work is in collections throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, and Australia. Over the years Gale has won a total of 37 awards including 10 People Choice Awards. His first major award was the Newcomer Award at the Trail of Tears Exhibit. Tahlequah, OK, 1986. His most recent award was the Niederman Award for most traditional painting with War Chief at the Red Cloud Art Show 2002. Gale was the first Native American artist to be selected by the Bradford Exchange, Niles, IL to do a limited edition of collector’s plates titled Chosen Messengers series. His painting End of an Era was selected by the Little Big Horn Battlefield National Monument board of directors to be reproduced and sold as a limited-edition print at the Battlefield. Gale is the only Northern Plains artist to be chosen each year from 1990-2002, along with several other well-known Native American artists from Oklahoma and Texas to be published in the Native American Calendar for Norwood Professional Products Inc. Sleepy Eye and Minnesota.
