(1) Monte Carlo. 1987. Deuxieme edition. original cream leatherette, gilt. 654, (2) pages. b&w text illustrations. Fine. This book is a guide to the Royal coinage issues under the Bourbon Kings of France: Louis XIII (1610–1643), Louis XIV (the Sun King, 1643–1715), Louis XV (1715–1774), and Louis XVI (1774–1792). The coins are classified by reign, chronologically by denomination from the smallest to the greatest value, in bronze, billon, silver and gold. At the beginning of each reign is a list indicating the letters or mint signs. Each piece is illustrated life-size with '.' between the obverse and the reverse, its characteristics: title of the metal, official weight, diameter, inscription of the slice and engraver. The part number is followed by its name and the three states of conservation -B - TB, TTB or TB, TTB - and - SUP. Then, appear the legal course and the edicts, the judgments or declarations of manufacture with the notes of fluctuations of the courses, the reforms, demonetizations etc.. then the dates and letters of mint with the figures of manufacture and the dimensions in French francs. It is one of the essential publications on French coins by a truly premier numismatist.

This book is a guide to the coinage issued from the colonies of France spread over the five continents: New France (Canada) and its currencies - cards, the West Indies with cut and under-marked coins, Africa and emergency coins, Arab coins and coins countermarked foreign countries, Madagascar and cardboard coins, Oceania with stamp coins (Noumea), the Indies and native coins from French counters, and Indochina. Some countries before colonization are also listed, some tokens, commemorative medals, all emergency coins, essays and pieforts, as well as coins minted after decolonization including so-called ""prestige issues"" coins. Each piece is presented with its characteristics by date and mint, mention of the minting quantity and value estimates for three states of preservation. At the beginning of the book, there is a historical overview of the colonial era and next to each country is a summary of the facts and events concerning it more particularly.
