Italian poet, novelist, and dramatist who distinguished himself as a heroic aviator in WWI and enjoyed a celebrated liaison with actress Eleonora Duse. ALS in Italian, one page, 9.5 x 13, no date, on stationery with a woodcut vignette "Hic manebimus Optime" ("Here we will stay very well"). In part (translated): “ See already lit the sky and a youthful thrill run Lombardy. Please tell my guardian for which precise time must be my car in Desenzano. I have everything ready for the hospitality in the Grand Hotel. The delivery of the Flag will be simple and solemn.” In fine condition, with central horizontal and vertical fold, rusty paperclip mark to top edge, and a couple small brushes to text. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope.
