Impressive collection of items relating to French aviation pioneers Gabriel and Charles Voisin, brothers who in 1906 formed the Appareils d'Aviation Les Frères Voisin (Voisin Brothers' Flying Machines). The group includes:

Three vintage photos, ranging in size from 4.25 x 3.25 to 7.25 x 5.25, of a glider built and piloted by Gabriel Voisin for aviation promoter Ernest Archdeacon, showing the aircraft during its successful flight over the Seine on June 8, 1905. The glider was towed into the air behind a motorboat between the Billancourt and Sèvres bridges and managed a flight of about 600 meters.

Three vintage photos, each approximately 4.75 x 3.5, depicting Charles Voisin prior to his trial flights with a biplane pusher at Bagatelle on March 30, 1907. Designed for Leon Delagrange, the glider was tested twice by Charles on that day, with one run for 20 meters, and the second for 60 meters.

Four vintage photos, three measuring 7x 5 and one measuring 9 x 6.25, showing Léon Delagrange, a pioneering French aviator and sculptor, flying a Voisin biplane during his record-breaking 31-minute flight around Issy-les-Moulineaux on September 7, 1908.

A vintage 7 x 5 photo of Delagrange sitting with his partner and fellow sculptor Thérèse Peltier inside Voisin's biplane in September 1908. Peltier, the first ever woman passenger in an airplane, made a solo flight of 200 meters at a height of 2.5 meters at the Military Square in Turin on a reported date of September 27, 1908.

Two vintage photos, both approximately 6.75 x 4.75, showing pilots seated and posing inside Voisin biplanes, with the close-up imagery showing the incredible detail and workmanship of these early aircraft.

A vintage 5.75 x 3.75 photo of an artistic portrayal of a biplane soaring under cloudy skies during the 1909 Reims Aviation race, with photographer name, “M. Branger,” printed to lower left corner.

A handwritten letter in French, penned on Gabriel Voisin’s personal letterhead, six pages, 8.25 x 10.75, November 24, 1906, addressed to Captain Ferdinand Ferber, an influential French Army officer who played an important role in the development of early aviation and was a major proponent of the work of the Wright Brothers. The untranslated letter consists of flying-related content, with the letterhead address, “4–Rue de la Ferme–Billancourt (Seine),” denoting the location of the Voisin brothers’ airplane factory.

A handwritten letter in French, penned on Les Freres Voisin letterhead, one page both side, 8.5 x 10.75, May 2, 190, also addressed to Captain Ferber. The untranslated letter features content related to air resistance and the weight of the Voisin/Delagrange biplane.

A pair of Aeroplanes Voisin invoices in French, each one page and signed “Les Voisin,” dated September 18, 1909, and October 14, 1909. In overall very good to fine condition.
