Gabriel Over the White House (MGM, 1933). Midget
Gabriel Over the White House (MGM, 1933). Midget Window Card (8" X 14"). With a plot as relevant today as it was in the 1930s, this film tells the story of a political puppet elected to the office of President (Walter Huston) who, after a near-death experience, changes his ways and institutes sweeping reforms to benefit the American people. Extremely controversial in its day, the film was championed by William Randolph Hearst, who saw it as an attack on then-President Herbert Hoover. However, Louis B. Mayer, the head of MGM and a die-hard Republican, managed to delay the release of the film until Hoover left office. Offered here is a wonderful, Art Deco-style window card from this scarce title. It has a bottom right corner crease, slight edge wear, and a small tear at the bottom, but these condition issues are extremely minor, and do little to detract from the enormous eye-appeal of this highly desirable card. From the Collection of Denver Sherry. Fine/Very Fine.*****

Shipping: Flat Material, Small (view shipping information)
