(GROUPING OF CIVIL WAR DOCUMENTS)
"A nice grouping of three war-date documents from the Civil War. First, an A.L.S. JOHN GIBBON (1827 -1896), adding rank, 1p. 8vo., ""Hd. Qrs. 24th Corp"", June 11, 1865 a U. S. military telegraph to General Charles Devens, in part: ""...I am waiting for the names of such general staff officers as can be deposed with in your Divà"". Heavy fold affects first letter of signature, else very good. Second, an L.S. by J. B. Fry, ""A. of P."", Mar. 2, 1863, in pencil and not in his hand, possibly a retained copy of a dispatch to Major General Hooker. In full: ""The Secretary of War directs that privates William J. Parkin, Henry C. Parkin, and George Pearson [of] Company I. 36th New York Vol. be ordered to report in person to the adjutant general in Washington. They are in Newton's division. They will be absent only long enough to give evidence"". Interestingly, Pvt. Pearson deserted at the end of the war. Very good. Third, an L.S. by J. H. TAYLOR 1p. 8vo., Washington, June 4, 1863, a carbon copy letter to Brig. Gen. Abercombie, in full: ""There is no board of Inspectors General as directed by Gen. Orders No. 27. The order is still in force, and its previous will govern in the case of sutlers so far as circumstances of service will permit"". Very good." 2431 A nice grouping of three war-date documents from the Civil War. First, an A.L.S. JOHN GIBBON (1827 -1896), adding rank, 1p. 8vo., ""Hd. Qrs. 24th Corp"", June 11, 1865 a U.
