GREEK COINS - CILICIA - Tarsos - AR Stater Jerusalem
Mazaeus, 361/0-334 BC. AR Stater (10.87 g). Baaltars seated left, holding eagle-tipped scepter, grape cluster and O before / lion attacking bull above two levels of city walls. BMC 48; cf. SNG Levante 114; cf. SNG France 2, 355; Hendin 450. David Hendin suggests in the fourth edition of his Guide to Biblical Coins that the walls depicted here may be identified as those of Jerusalem based upon the Aramaic inscription on the reverse: "Mazaeus who is over Beyond the River and Cilicia," which was used in two books of the Old Testament.

Rare variant, EF, some porosity on obv.
