GREAT GROUP OF B. HARRISON CAMPAIGN ITEMS.
GREAT GROUP OF B. HARRISON CAMPAIGN ITEMS. Lot of 5. Two small Harrison Jugs. A 1.5" glazed, brown jug with affixed albumen portrait, together with a tiny jug with affixed "Harrison and Morton" paper label. The larger specimen has a small chip at the spout, the small has a hole in the base as made. Benjamin Harrison (1833-1901), twenty-third President 1889-93, defeated for re-election by Grover Cleveland in 1888, saw six states admitted to the Union during his term. Unusual, fun pieces! PLUS Two Harrison trade cards: the classic "beaver top hat" design with advertising for "Demorest's Family Magazine" on verso noting that the October issue would be accompanied by a reproduction of "Mrs. Harrison's Superb Painting of Orchids, Executed in the White House!" A mint example. Together with a small portrait card advertising Citric Lustre Starch, light creases, a Boston card. AND A handsome, white, unglazed, clay pipe proclaiming "Protection for American Labor" with a bas-relief portrait of Benjamin Harrison. Most likely a relic of the 1888 campaign rather than 1892, this 5" smoker has never been used -- the bowl remains clean. Minor chips at stem, slight loss to three raised letters, overall a superior example with great detail. PLEASE NOTE: THIS LOT WILL BE SOLD ON EBAY LIVE AUCTIONS BETWEEN 2:00-3:00pm EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME ON MAY 10, 2002. REGISTER NOW TO BID LIVE ONLINE THE DAY OF THE SALE! (EST 200-300)
