A very fine whale bone, walrus ivory & baleen scrimshaw cane with silver 1 shilling British coin set in top of 1.5"diameter ivory knob. The coin has a young Queen Victoria on obverse and dates between 1838-87. The top 5 " ofcane is ivory & baleen, while the rest is a single piece of nicely tapered whale bone. Appear to have never had aferrule. Total length 32.75. A super British piece of whaler's art.A very few tight age lines in ivory and expected wear to the shilling, only.(EST 1000-1500)
