GREAT CIVIL WAR PAINTING. Anonymous, 16 x 13.5" oil on canvas painting of two Union cavalrymen posed at an opening in the woods. A fascinating painting, because of the accouterments clearly visible on the trooper in the foreground. His red bedroll, saddlebags, and heavy sabre hang off his McClellan, with an additional pack in the front. The butt of a carbine is visible on the trooper in the rear. Relined long ago, recently lightly cleaned and revarnished.Unframed. PLEASE NOTE: THIS LOT WILL BE SOLD ON EBAY LIVE AUCTIONS BETWEEN 5:00-6:00pm EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME ON MAY 10, 2002.
