(1836 - 1911) Confederate brigadier general who commanded a regiment at Chickamauga and Missionary Ridge, later captured during his attack at Franklin. Partly-printed D.S. ""Geo. W. Gordon"" 6pp. folio, [n. p.], July 1903, concerning the application ex-Confederate Private Phil B. Thompson to the Association of Confederate Soldiers, Tennessee Division. Attached are four copies of typed testimonies for Thompson which outline his service with the Orphan Brigade and his presence during the Shiloh campaign. Application has fold separation, testimonial letters have some fold splits, else very good.
