GOEBBELS, JOSEF
(1897 - 1945) Nazi Minister of Propoganda with Hitler from the earliest days, a master of manipulation of the masses who tokk his life and those of his family members in the last days of the war. Rare fine content T.L.S. on Reichsminister for Information and Propaganda letterhead, 1p. 4to., Berlin, Dec. 21, 1937 to Dr. Mathilde Ludendorff, the widow of ERICH LUDENDORFF. In part: "…I express to you my most sincere and most cordial condolences on the heavy loss which you suffered by the death of your husband, the great commander-in-chief Erich Ludendorff. The entire nation participates most closely in your pain The name of the deceased will live forever…" Very good condition. Erich Ludendorff (1865-1937) served as a German general and politician. With Hindenburg in World War I he was responsible for the defeat of Russia, and later nearly crushed the Allies on the Western Front. Later, Ludendorff joined forces with Hitler in the Beer Hall Putsch and became a member of the Reichstag. With Matilde, the couple were proponents of a new “Aryan” racist religion, and Ludendorff wrote pamphlets accusing the Pope, the Jesuits, the Jews, and the Freemasons of a common plot against Aryans.
