GODWIN, ARCHIBALD CAMPBELL
(1831 - 1864) Provost Marshall of Richmond and later a Brigadier General who fought at Fredericksburg and Gettysburg, Killed at the Third Battle of Winchester by a shell fragment. Very rare war-date D.S. ""A. C. Godwin"" as Provost Marshall of Richmond, 1p. oblong 8vo., Richmond, Apr. 14, 1862, a partly-printed pass for B. G. Stewart to visit ""...King Groves...upon honor not to communicate in writing or verbally any fact ascertained, which, if known to the enemy, might be injurious to the Confederate States of America..."". Even toning throughout, significant splitting, with the usual ragged edges, should be viewed. Certainly worthy of professional restoration.
