Cabinet card measuring 4 1/4"" x 6 1/2"" of soldier/author Captain Willard Glazier showing him in his first lieutenant's uniform, from the chest-up. Notation on verso, possibly in Glazier's hand, reads in part: ""Captain Willard Glazier... served with great gallantry in the Civil War and was captured in 1863 and sent to Libby prison. Wrote 'Capture, Prison, Pen, and Escape', 'Three years in the Federal Cavalry', 'Battles for the Union', 'Down the Great River', ect. Willard Glazier"". Included is a copy of his most popular book: ""The Capture Prison Pen and Escape"", published in 1865. A great grouping from an officer who originally enlisted in 1861 in the 2nd New York Cavalry, and was captured in 1863 and again in 1864. He finished the war in the 26th New York Cavalry. Light soiling to the image, Minor wear to the book's binding, else very good. 2330
