GINSBURG, ALLEN
307. ALLEN GINSBURG (1926 - 1997) American poet of the "Beat Generation", author of "Howl" and "Kaddish". Rare A.Ms.S. "Allen Ginsburg", 1p. 4to., [New York, 1978], an original poem by Ginsburg written in response to a request a researcher had typed on the verso. Ginsburg's correspondent asks the great poet to supply him with information and anecdotes about protest songwriter Phil Ochs, a contemporary of, and influence on Bob Dylan. Ginsburg responds on the verso, boldly writing the title of his response: "Okeydoke Re-Ochs", in full: "My eyes swim / Your typewriter's too dim / to read. Indeed / I have a few / just one or two / anecdotes to tell / which I am well / able by phone / If I am home / 212-777-6786 / and if I'm in a fix / I must say nix / I'm busy, call later, / So hear you, Alligator Allen Ginsburg". He adds a postscript: "Phone soon, but afternoon". Great original work, near fine. $400-600
