A pair of silhouette profiles of George and Martha Washington, with an accompanying, signed note that reads: "The within are profiles of Gen'l and Mrs. Washington--taken from their shadow on a wall--they are as perfect likenesses as profiles can give-- Presented to me by my friend Mrs. Eleanor P. Lewis -- at Woodlawn -- July 1832. Eliza.th Bordley Gibson."  Each image: 3 1/4in. x 2 1/8in. (sight). Note: 2in. x 3in. (sight).  Frame: 8 1/4in. x 12 1/8in. Condition: Toning; the silhouettes are faded; fading and soiling to the note. Elizabeth Bordley Gibson was the daughter of John Beal and Sarah Bordley, Annapolis, Maryland, who were family friends of the Washingtons. Eleanor Parke Custis Lewis (1779-1852) was the youngest granddaughter of Martha Washington and the step-granddaughter of George Washington. She lived at Woodlawn Plantation when it was completed in 1805.
