"Giacomo" 4pp. 8vo., Viareggio, Dec. 23, 1921, in Italian to Rose Ader, a young operatic singer with whom Puccini had fallen in love, in part: "...I found your letter forwarded by Orbetello from Torre, it is a dear little letter which has given me great pleasure. I have the telegram from the previous night in Rome...Can you really love this little man who has his age on his conscience? I can scarcely believe it! But you have given me ample proof. And yet I still have doubts...My life is not a beautiful one. You are so far away and I have no hope of getting close to you! Would that I could do so much for you...I am sad...I would have wished for you to sing at Costanzi, but am not able to...I don't remember is I had told you that I made peace with Toscanini...what a head that man has! Were you in Milan?...I saw Dalla Rizza last night, dined with him and we spoke a lot about you..". With the original holograph envelope, very boldly penned in his typical exuberant hand, and very good condition. $500-700

Connecticut.
<p>2.) This auction will be held in two parts. Part I (Lots 1-415) will
begin at 1:00 PM Eastern Time on Saturday, March 29, 2003. Part II (Lots 600-1550) will begin at Noon Eastern Time on Wednesday, April 2, 2003. However, you may bid at any time prior to the sale dates.
<p>3.) There is a 17.5% Buyer's Premium charged on the final hammer price
of
each lot. Lots purchased through our website (alexautographs.com) or by any other means other than the icollector.com or ebayliveauctions.com bidding service are not subject to this additional fee.
<p>4.) The Auctioneer reserves the right to reject any bid for any
reason.

significantly from the item¹s actual condition; such returns must be made within three (3) days of purchaser¹s receipt of the lot(s). All returned lots must be in the same condition as shipped. All items are in very good condition unless stated otherwise. Items housed in frames have not been examined outside of the frame. Lots which bear defects or damage not visible because of framing will not be subject to return.
