This item was originally owned by Sam Spears, a member of the Hasbro production team, and it comes with a hand-written letter of authenticity, signed by Mr. Spears. Differences between this early sample and the final production run include: small "flash"-type pegs on the bottoms of the feet, shins, backs of the hands, and wrists; holes at the tops of the arm pegs at the shoulders; and, most significantly, a complete lack of any embossed copyright/trademark information on the figure's posterior. The figure has the early small feet and hands, and the hands are in fact cast in a different color of plastic than the rest of the figure. The head is the early "hard" version (which has shrunk somewhat over the years to become what collectors refer to as a "pinhead"), with virtually-perfect red hair and eyebrows. There are stress cracks at the knees, the left thigh, the right forearm, and the left forearm is cracked almost all the way through. However, the figure is still tightly strung, and in excellent condition overall. A rare and fascinating glimpse into the early years of GI Joe's production. <B>Estimate: $2,500-up</B> </FONT></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE><BR><!--<a name="PricesRealized"></a> <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" bgcolor="#000000"> <tr> <td width="100%"> <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="1" cellpadding="3"> <tr> <td width="100%" bgcolor="#79735C"> <a name="PR"> <font face="arial" size="3" color="#FFFFFF"> <b>Previous Prices from Heritage Auctions</b> </td> </tr> <tr> <td bgcolor="#F6F6ED"> No Prior Data Recorded </td> </tr> <tr> <td bgcolor="#FFFFFF"> <font face="arial" size="1""> PLEASE NOTE: All prices realized reflect the final hammer price PLUS the buyer's premium in auctions that charge a buyer's premium.
