Offered here is a beautiful box that grades a solid C9; the only real problem is a 5" glue stain on one of the tan side panels, and light overall wear. The litho graphics are remarkably clean and bright, with superb color imagery guaranteed to send any kid into Christmas-morning fits. The space capsule itself appears like-new, and with no melt marks, scuffs, dings, or cracks. There are no broken pieces, and the canopy plastic is crystal clear. All stickers are present and very bright and fresh-looking. Overall, the capsule shows virtually no signs of aging. Although this set did not originally come with a Joe, one has been provided with this lot, a hard-head redhead that appears to be C8/9 (although we did not remove the spacesuit to conduct a thorough exam); the helmet and 2-zipper spacesuit are C9, with some very, very slight discoloration of the white straps being the only noticeable problem. The suit, booties, and gloves are in excellent condition, with no tears or peels, and the helmet retains its communication cable. Accessories include the instruction sheet, and the rare 45-rpm record featuring actual Mercury space flight communications. The record is C9, with only a few very, very tiny scratches; it has probably never been played. The record is one of the key pieces to this first-issue set, as it was not included with any of the later re-issues. Overall, this is a spectacular example of one of the most desirable GI Joe sets, and certainly one of the most fondly-remembered. <B>Estimate: $1,500-up</B> </FONT></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE><BR><!--<a name="PricesRealized"></a> <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" bgcolor="#000000"> <tr> <td width="100%"> <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="1" cellpadding="3"> <tr> <td width="100%" bgcolor="#79735C"> <a name="PR"> <font face="arial" size="3" color="#FFFFFF"> <b>Previous Prices from Heritage Auctions</b> </td> </tr> <tr> <td bgcolor="#F6F6ED"> No Prior Data Recorded </td> </tr> <tr> <td bgcolor="#FFFFFF"> <font face="arial" size="1""> PLEASE NOTE: All prices realized reflect the final hammer price PLUS the buyer's premium in auctions that charge a buyer's premium.
