[GETTYSBURG - 121ST PENN MUSTER ROLL: A great partly-printed muster roll for Co. H, 121st Pennsylvania Vols., 2pp. large folio, Rappahannock, Va., Aug. 31, 1863 endorsed by Corporal Charles M. Wills (who appears to be the highest ranking officer after Gettysburg) covering a two-month period from June 30, 1863 through Aug. 31, 1863, including the time of the battle of Gettysburg. The 121st Penn. was heavily engaged in Doubleday's division of the First Corps during the first day's battle at the edge of McPherson's Woods. This company sustained truly heavy casualties with 17 of the 31 men listed shown as being wounded, captured, both wounded and captured along with one man dying July 2, 1863 at Frederick, Md. A brief outline of the regiment's experiences lists the regiment, in part: "July 1-5th Battle of Gettysburg...July 12th March to Boonsboro, Md. and towards the enemy...July 18th Cross the Potomac at Berlin...". A rare muster roll showing the affects of the battle on a Pennsylvania regiment that was fighting to defend their homes and families, and who fought gallantly throughout the remainder of the war sustaining greater losses throughout Grant's Overland campaign and the pursuit of Lee in 1865. Some fold splits with negligible paper loss and minor toning, else very good. $1,000-1,500
