GESTAPO LISTS OF JEWS WHO HAVE FLED GERMANY AND TO BE
GESTAPO LISTS OF JEWS WHO HAVE FLED GERMANY AND TO BE RE-ARRESTED ON THEIR RETURN
A bound list of dozens of war-date copies of typed transcripts of correspondence between Gestapo and SS Headquarters in Berlin, and Gestapo Headquarters in Osnabruck, approx. 200pp. large 4to., covering the period of Feb. 12, 1937 to Sep. 15, 1938. The documents, string-bound, are essentially identical in form: in letters signed in type, some by Heinrich Muller, Berlin provides the names of those who have emigrated and have therefore been stripped of their citizenship with instructions that the individuals be arrested should they attempt to re-enter the country. The emigrant's name, date of birth, place of birth, and last place of residence in Germany are all set forth in alphabetical order. These copies were then sent to the local gendarmeries for reference once a suspected illegal immigrant was arrested. This is a frightening reference: we see entire families fleeing from every part of Germany, and as Osnabruck was not far from the Dutch border, the Germans wanted to ensure that the local police were enlisted in preventing Jews from illegally returning to obtain any of their confiscated monies or property. Overall very good condition, and worth of research.
