The treason trial against Dr. Guido Schmidt before the Vienna People's Court - The court minutes with the statements of witnesses, unpublished documents, all secret letters and secret files, published by the Austrian State Printing Office, Vienna 1947, 698 pages, 8.5 x 11.5 inches. Guido Schmidt (1901-1957) was an Austrian diplomat and politician, who served as Foreign Minister from 1936 to 1938. Hermann Goring appointed Schmidt as director of the Hermann Goring Werke in Linz on July 1, 1938. In December 1945, Schmidt was arrested and charged with treason. On June 12, 1947, the trial before the People's Court of Vienna ended with an acquittal. Some wear to cover and spine, softcover, sunned covers, in German. WITH: A pair of books from the library of German Diplomat Ulrich von Hassell (1881-1944), a member of the German Resistance. Hassell took part in plans to overthrow Hitler. Included are the book 'Neue Bilder' (New Pictures) and 'Schattenbilder' (Silhouettes) by Herbert Eulenberg, Verlag von Bruno Cassirer, Berlin, 1918. Inside the front cover is von Hassell's personal bookplate bearing the family coat of arms.
