SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL WITH HOSLTER. Cal. 9mm Luger. S# 8780h. Bbl. 4". P.08 Luger semi-automatic pistol mfg. at the Erfurt arsenal in 1917. Bbl. extension is marked "1917" over the chamber, with Erfurt arsenal proofs marked on the right (and repeated on various parts overall). Metal components exhibit an older reapplied blue finish overall, with some small parts exhibiting a reheated straw finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips, which appear to have been lightly sanded. Dovetailed blade front sight with fixed V-notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching (including the grips), save for on the firing pin, which is unnumbered. MAGS: 1 8-rd. with unmarked wood plug. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: WWII production black leather P.38 holster mfg. by Carl Heinichen, marked "joa/ 1943" above an Eagle/WaA706 proof on the rear. CONDITION: metal components retain fair amounts of their reapplied blue finish, exhibiting wear and thinning that shows through to brown patina. Front and rear straps of frame exhibit consistent light pitting, with an area of moderate pitting present on the rear and left side of the frame. Bore exhibits consistent light to mild pitting, while retaining good rifling throughout. Grips show smoothing and some scattered marks and impressions, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. Holster remains malleable, exhibiting general overall wear, with some light age related cracking and crazing. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection of Nicholas Apergis. (25-3967/MLW). CURIO. $500-700.
