German Meissen style monkey band figure after model by J.J. Kandler and possibly Peter Reinicke. 1 of a group of 13. 4 1/2" high. Scroll moulded gilded base. Satirical monkey musician playing an instrument that resembles a bagpipe. 18th century court attire: striped trousers and black trihorn hat. Vibrant greenish-blue coat Marks: Blue Crown with "N" over crossed swords. Impressed mould numbers. Condition: The end of the instrument is chipped, but easilly repaired. The rest of the figure is in good condition.
