1) GERMAN. This is an example of a German WWI infantry spike helmet with gray metal trim. The black leather body has an eagle on the front with gray metal spike, base, visor trim, side lugs, and rear spine. The interior shows a 9-tongue leather liner. CONDITION: the body of the helmet is a bit misshaped with cracks and wear. The gray metal trim is complete. No chinstrap or kokarden. 2) FRENCH. A brass shell for a WWI era French fireman's helmet. The helmet has a brass comb and an elaborate plate on the front that reads "SAPEURS POMPIERS L'HOTELLERIE". There is a plume holder on the left side. There is no liner present but the chinstrap is complete. CONDITION: the helmet has several dents to the comb and a few shallow dents to the body of the helmet. 3) GERMAN. A German WWII civic fire police helmet. Helmet has a black body with the comb removed from the top. The left side has a police eagle decal and the right side has a party decal. The interior shows a 9-tongue leather liner and is complete with chinstrap. CONDITION: helmet shows light to moderate wear overall. Decals are nearly 90% complete. The liner band attachment rivets are replaced with screws on the right side. Liner and chinstrap show light to moderate wear. 4) GERMAN. A WWI era German fire helmet with a black painted tinned iron shell that features a brass border on the front and rear visor. The comb at the top and side buttons are also brass. The frontplate is a large brass "H". There is a leather sweatband in the interior and a cotton liner with the name of the owner written upon it. CONDITION: helmet shows moderate to heavy wear overall with dents to the body and significant wear to the finish. (02-23854/BF). $500-800.
