GERMAINE KRULL (German, 1897-1985) CAR IN TRAFFIC artist's PARIS copyright stamp in red ink on verso vintage gelatin silver print 8 3/8 x 5 7/16 in. (21.3 x 13.8 cm) 1927-1928 PROVENANCE Private Collection, EUROPE Private Collection, NEW YORK Germaine Krull loved cars. This photograph was made before she bought her first car in 1929. She seems to gaze longingly at this sporty vehicle from the sidewalk. Once Krull acquired her own car, she often photographed from inside the car while it was being driven down the road by a friend. She made the photographs for two books about road trips this way. The first is LA ROUTE DE PARIS À LA MÉDITERRANÉE and the second is LA ROUTE PARIS-BIARRITZ, both published in 1931.
