George III sterling silver vase, made London 1810 by Alexander Hewat.<BR>Measures a little over 6inches tall; diameter of top is 4 3/8inches. Weight is 400g - 14 1/2oz.<BR>Campana-shaped with outflared and rolled rim. The top half of the body moulded with a broad band of fruiting vines between stylised egg-and-dart borders, the lower half decorated with acanthus leaves, on a similarly decorated pedestal foot. Silver-gilt interior.<BR>Very clearly hallmarked on the bottom rim:Maker AH; lion passant, leopard, date letter P and monarch's head.<BR>Small dent to rim but otherwise very good condition.
