GEORGI DIMITROV (1882-1949) Bulgarian Communist Leader. On night of Feb 27, 1933, the German Reichstag caught fire. Adolf Hitler, the newly appointed Chancellor, used this event to outlaw his Communist opponents. Dimitrov, with other Communist leaders, were accused of starting the blaze. At his trial Dimitrov thoroughly bested the Nazi prosecution and won acquittal.
