PATTON JR.] </span></b><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:Arial; color:windowtext'><BR><BR></span><b><i><span style='font-size:14.0pt;font-family: Arial;color:windowtext;text-transform:uppercase'>“Easy To Drive For</span></i></b><span style='font-family:Arial;text-transform:uppercase'>”</span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:Arial; color:windowtext'><BR><BR>Bronze Star awarded by Patton to <b>Donald Terrill</b>, his driver during the war. Housed in original black case with decorative gilt design and lettering. Accompanied by a b/w 4"x5" photograph of General Patton pinning the star on Terrill’s chest; plus a letter of provenance from Terrill’s nephew. Also present is a photocopy of a <i>New York Herald</i> clipping, Dec 14, 1945, in which Terrill recalls his experience as Patton’s driver. Among the 1,303 troops returning to New York the week Patton was fatally injured in a car accident, the reactions of his two drivers are recorded after they were radioed the news while still aboard transport back. Terrill recalled the general as “<i>easy to drive for—he never gave a command from the back seat</i>.” Very nice.</span></p>

1. Auction Catalogue No. 19 is a Mail, Fax, Phone, Email and
Internet Live Bid Auction and is conducted under the laws of the State
of West Virginia by Gil Griggs, Licensee of Charleston, W. V. License
No. 002.
2. Absentee bid closing date is April 5th, 2002, 10:00 PM EST.
3. There is a 15% Buyer’s Premium charged on the final hammer price
of each lot. An additional 2½% Premium will be added to any lots
purchased through ebayliveauctions.com.
4. The Auctioneer reserves the right to reject any bid for any
reason.

6. In the event of duplicate high bids, the earliest bid received
will be the winner.
