George Oyston was a British artist whose soft-focused watercolours depicted isolated scenes of the rural countryside around the River Thames. Born in Cornwall, United Kingdom in 1860, the son of an engineer, Oyston spent much of his early life traveling through the English countryside. Memories of his travels often served as fodder for his later paintings. During his life, he exhibited at the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour, the Royal Society of British Artists, and the Berwick Club in Newcastle. The artist died in 1937 in North Shields, United Kingdom.

A watercolour of houses in Stoughton, village and civil parish in the District of Chichester in West Sussex, England.
Measuring 10x6.75 inches. Dated 1915 and signed by George Oyston.
