GEORGE M. WEISS: (1895 - 1972) Baseball Hall of Famer, General Manager of the Yankees who led the team to ten A.L. pennants and seven World series, later heading the Mets. An important Yankee-related archive, the corporate records of the Amsterdam, New York Yankees farm team, with five documents signed by Weiss. These are the complete minutes of the Amsterdam Exhibition Co., Inc., owners of the Class C Minor League Amsterdam Rugmakers of the Canadian-American League, and cover the period from the organization of the club on Jan. 18, 1950 until it's dissolution on May 21, 1953. From 1950-1951, the Rugmakers were the Yankees farm team in the Canadian-American League, and when that league disbanded in 1951, so did the team, with the Yankees maintaining ownership until 1953. Documents signed by Weiss include a 200 share stock certificate showing Yankee ownership of the team, three bank-related documents, a corporate resolution and a notice relating to a meeting of the board. Other signatories include DEL WEBB and DAN TOPPING. Complete baseball corporate records are nearly impossible to obtain, and a Yankee-related team even more so. Overall very good condition, contained in a hard-cover corporate record book. $700-900
