Attributed to William Pitts. London, circa 1828. Later marks for Hunt & Roskell, 1880: of octagonal form with repousse scene of battle. Measures 25" length. 37 oz t of silver. According to Sotheby's, this plaque may relate to William Pitts' unfinished Shield of Aenas of which a copper version was exhihibited at the Great Exhibition of the Works of Industry of all Nations, London 1851 and again in 1862.
