Reads in part, "...I received a letter from...my Agent in New York notifying my that Writs...have been prosecuted by Elizabeth Philip Widow of Frederick...aganist...Tenants of mine...occupying Houses...These Tenements were purchased from the State soon after the Peace at a very high Price and paid for in Specie...on one of the Lots available three Story Brick House has since been erected...it may be proper that the State defend...unless it should be judged expedient to compromise..."
