Bell and Daldy, 1862FIRST EDITION, pages viii, 255, 8vo, original green blind-stamped cloth : very goodLetters describing her tour embracing Dublin, Limerick, Killarney, Aran, Kerry and Cork. A successful work which ran to a second edition within the year. Both editions are uncommon.ALSO WITH THIS LOT: (1) [POWER ( Sir Alfred ) , MD ??]. [Drop-title:] Cruise of the Olivia, 1866. [Dublin ?], circa 1874. Drop-title, 16-pages, 8vo, unbound, sewn with silk ribbon with two other pieces : with contemporary inscription dated 5.9.74 : a little dusty but very good. In verse throughout and probably privately printed. Not found in WorldCat or on-line in NLI. Found with Sir Alfred Power's "Stray Pieces", and almost certainly by him. ‘The Olivia’, a 25-ton cutter, skippered by William A. Power, sailed from Dublin to such places as Norway, Scotland and Spain. A facsimile of the ship’s log was published in 1983. Bound with : (1) Grana Wail, drop title, 5-pages verse and pages 6-16 appendix of notes, Dublin, Thom, circa 1870. (2) Corrected Edition. Precautionary Hints on the threatened Approach of Cholera. Drop-title, verse, 16-pages, Dublin, Printed by Alexander Thom. (2) CORKEY ( Alexander ). The truth about Ireland, or through the emerald isle with an aeroplane. With an introductory chapter showing the bright future of Ireland by Hon. William Jennings Bryan. Oskaloosa, Iowa, Shockley Bros & Cook, London, Richard J. James, (1910). With 10 plates, 135-pp, 8vo, original cloth : clean but lightly waterstained : a good copy. An account of the author's aerial adventures around Ireland. (3) CUMMING ( Joseph George ). The story of Rushen Castle and Rushen Abbey, in the Isle of Man. Bell & Daldy, 1857. FIRST EDITION, with frontiispiece, a folding map and 6 plates (1 folding), pages viii, 63 ; 24, including a (4)-page subscriber list, 8vo, original unlettered stiff paper wrappers : wanting backstrip, stitching weak, a little dusty, but a very good copy. Cumming (1812–68), geologist and Church of England clergyman, spent fifteen years on the island, studying its geology and antiquarian remains with great care.
