Good content and rather cryptic A.L.S. "P. F. Garrett" on Union Clothing Company letterhead, 1p. 8vo., El Paso, July 16, 1896 to his old friend Hy Bowles. While running for sheriff, Garrett settles a $20 debt owed to Bowles, apologizing for his lateness in paying. He notes: "ÉMy excuse is I did not have the money. Our country is hard up, and it has been hard work for me to get money to pay running expensesÉI have reason to believe I will be in shape to pay my outstanding indebtednessÉI hope you are getting all right with your race. How are `they' getting along, have things in shape when I come down and we will play at the gameÉ". Fine condition. $2,000-3,000
