Important D.S. "<i>Erle Stanley Gardner</i>", 3pp. legal folio, New York, Oct. 13, 1942, a contract between Gardner and William Morrow & Co. for the publication of "<i>two mystery novels</i>" under Gardner's pseudonym "<i>A.A. Fair</i>", with typical contractual deletions and additions, boldly signed at conclusion. Also signed by his longtime secretary and future wife Jean Bethell. Fine condition. The A.A. Fair mysteries featured the investigative team of Bertha Cool, a sassy, tough-talking detective in her sixties, and her partner Donald Lam, a timid, disbarred lawyer in his twenties.<b>$300-400</b>
