Watercolor and ink on paper, hanging scroll, featuring monkey and moon, signed and attr. Gao Qifeng (Chinese, 1889-1933), inscribed with 1 artist seal, 95 x 49 cm. Gao Qifeng was a Chinese visual artist who was born in 1889. Gao Qifeng has had several gallery and museum exhibitions, including at the Art Museum, The Chinese University of Hong Kong and at the National Palace Museum. Many works by the artist have been sold at auction, including 'ROARING LION' sold at Sotheby's Hong Kong 'Fine Chinese Paintings' in 2014 for $2,016,221. There have been many articles about Gao Qifeng, including 'Japan's role in the 19th-century modernization of Chinese art' written by Matthew Larking for The Japan Times in 2012.
