GANDHARA: KASHMIR-SMAST: LOT of 35 tiny copper coins, wide variation, struck from the 3rd to at least the 7th century AD: designs based on Indo-Greek, Kushan, Kidarite, Alchon, Nezak, Westen Turk, animals, human heads, and all manor of local themes; mostly round, some square or irregular shapes; average weight 0.5g to 1.0g; average Fine condition, but most with weakness, flat areas, etc.; an interesting group, viewing recommended; all with Todd's description; retail value $1100, lot of 35 pieces, ex Ian Todd Collection. About 15 exampled published by Vondrovec, including his types A12, A20, K3, K6, G1, G2, G20, G45, G56, G59, G68, and G71, the rest unlisted by Vondrovec, as is frequent for this series. Two have what appear to be Brahmi names, tentatively read as Tityajaya and Jayasimha by the consignor.
